Like many of you have probably noticed, PSN is down. Both PS3 and PSP users are currently not able to access the PSN store or play any of their games online. However, the Netflix service for PS3s is reported to be working normally.
There is no word from Sony what the causes of this inconvenience are, or when they will get PSN up and running again. They did, however, make an announcement regarding the situation. Said announcement was rather brief and can be found HERE.
There are many things that could have caused things, and we cannot rule out Anynomous’ involvement as one of them. In the past month they have made DDOS attacks on Sony’s various sites, and also managed to slow down PSN. They seized those attacks, however, because the public was not pleased with the slowdown of PSN.
Whatever the case is, we should know soon enough.

Sony has pretty much gotten every regular customer on their side-if you look at the PSN status update on gameinformer.com, most of the comments say stuff like “fuck the hackers” and “they just wanted free stuff” and stuff like that.
I think anonymous has managed to make themselves a third, extremist party-now it’s like Sony vs. Hackers vs. Anonymous.

According to a rumor, a custom firmware called Rebug allowed free downloads on PSN, so it was shut down. Good job, modders.

this will not be sorted any time soon because it seems they have to completely rebuild the server and psn software due to the hack! no matter who hacked into this company, they shoundn;’t have left themsleves open to such an attack and now people like myself and the thousands of others out there have to sit around and wait for them to fix the problem!!

Come on!!! PS3 is great, but Sony WAS open for a hack like this. Dang. All I gotta say is Sony, Come on. The XBOX has a security system. AND ITS MADE BY MICROSOFT!!! Sony, please make a Security System. God. And will someone tell me when the PS3 will be up and running again? THANKS!
