GeoHot Custom Firmware 3.55 Released.
Another PS3 Custom Firmware has been released. This time round its from GeoHot, this is a 3.55 FW CFW that can only be installed on 3.55 PS3 systems. At the moment backups don’t work on this CFW.There are a few new homebrew emulators and games being converted now to work on this new GeoHot 3.55 CFW.

i heard sony working on banning people, but for now i heard u will be fine online till sony figures it out, also i heard people having issues with some Slim edition ps3 but nothing wrong with the fat one ^_^

i have ps3 slim , 3.55 firmware.
just jailbreaked with geohot patch. all fine.
backups dont work..
- Installed multiman (creating backups works, ftp server works)
- installed snes emulator .. al works. ;

Backups should remain unsupporrted. I’m all for homebrew, but backups will eventually lead to piracy.

So does this exploit have to be run each time I boot up the PS3? Or is it permanent hack?
I really hope I can run this when I want with my PS3 disconnected, and then return to the 3.55 OFW when I reboot the system to go back online? Can anyone confirm?

Seriously people u know what u are doing? U are closing down sony for good. They will probaly stop releasing great ps3 games thanks to u douche hackers that screwed up all this. You’re really stupid, ps3.
First off, let me say that any time you threaten someone else, you’re just as bad as the person you’re threatening. Threatening to bomb someone is just as serious offense as the ones that have been brought against geohot and fail0verflow.
Second off, the whole reason why did this in the first place is because Sony decided they were going to take away features of the console. How do you like that? Buying a console that is advertised to do certain functions that are then removed by Sony. I find that Sony should also be convicted of false advertising and fraud for removing features by software from PS3s that advertised those features. They have purposefully committed fraud against millions of people who bought the PS3 based on the OtherOS option.
Third, if you think this is going to stop Sony for good, you’re an idiot. Sony may take a hit, but it’s certainly not going to stop them. Sony is an international multi-billion dollar company that reaches into just about every different market of product out there. It may mean Sony has to come out with a new console, but they can’t just go and abandon the PS3 just because the hackers found a way in to it. I buy all my PS3 games. I would like the option of creating a FAIR-USE backup to play my games on a backup copy rather than the possibility of ruining the original disc. Does any company allow that? No. Can making a backup copy be used to pirate the game? Sure, it could, but that wasn’t it’s intention. The same thing applies to many other software packages and hardware devices made.
Fourth, NOBODY HAS GONE TO JAIL YET. Maybe you should get a clue before you open your mouth and speak about something you know nothing about.

did anyone notice he was using a slim PS3 in the video but i havent seen a slim PS3 with a 40 gig hard drive in it like this one showed in system settings it has to be one of the fats in the background not the slim i did use this on my fat that has 3.41 with 3.55 trick jailbreak but has not worked on the slim i have with 3.55 anybody have a video showing this to work on true 3.55 slim why take 120 gig hd out of the slim for a 40 gig hd doesnt make sense to me
